In 2016, Timmy Kelliher and his family from Caragh Lake, Killorglin were faced with an extremely difficult couple of weeks in Cork when his wife became ill. As he lived over an hour and a half away, it would not have been possible for him to travel up and down each day. The stress and expense of finding somewhere to stay in Cork during this time was an extremely daunting prospect. However, when the hospital suggested Brú Columbanus he and his family were extremely grateful, and will be forever more.

Brú Columbanus provided Timmy and his family with accommodation close to the hospital, allowing them to focus on the health of their loved one during what was a difficult and emotional time. As it is an independent charity, therefore relies solely on the support of charity events and donations in order to provide such a wonderful service. Ever since this extremely difficult time, Timmy has wanted to raise funds for this organisation in the hope that they will continue to support many other families as they did his own.

As a result, he, his family and their local community have come together to organise a charity cycle, with all proceeds going towards this fantastic organisation. The cycle will take in some of Co. Kerry’s most breathtaking scenery. It will consist of two routes, 30km and 70km.

The 70km route will leave from the Red Fox, Glenbeigh and tour Caragh Lake, Glencar, Beaufort, Killorglin, Tullig and Cromane.
The 30km route will a much easier route and take in Caragh Lake, Killorglin, Tullig and Cromane. It is aimed at those that may not cycle on a regular basis.

We hope you will all come out and support us as we hope to raise much needed funds for such a wonderful organisation. All donations will be extremely appreciated, and we look forward to a fantastic day out.
