How do I avail of the service?

Families requiring accommodation can only be referred to the House by the Clinical Nurse Manager, staff nurse or social worker. Referrals are only made if the family meets one of the criteria necessary for referral as set out by Brú Columbanus.

Families can only be referred to the home through the medical management in the hospitals or hospice who determine if families meet the criteria for admission. The criteria are:

1. The family member must be deemed to be seriously ill by the nursing staff and it is considered necessary for the family members remain close by. 
2. The family of the patient must live a long distance from the hospital.
